During the past three seasons, Misha Didyk has emerged as one of opera’s
most exciting young lyric tenors.  In February 2005, he made his debut at
Teatro alla Scala Milano in the role of Hermann (Pique Dame) and in June
2005, he made his debut with San Francisco Opera in the same role.  Within
the next eighteen months, he returned to San Francisco to sing Charles VII in
Tchaikovsky’s Maid of Orleans and the Chevalier des Grieux (Manon
Lescaut).  He returned to La Scala in 2008, as Alexey in Prokofiev’s The
Gambler, a role he also performed at the Berlin State Opera and Opera de
Lyon.
Born in the Ukraine, Misha Didyk graduated from the National Academy of
Music.  He pursued further studies with Professor Anna Maria Bondi at the
Opera de Paris Bastille.
Michael Didyk made his debut with the National Opera of Ukraine, where he
sang Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Alfredo in La Traviata, the Duke in Rigoletto
and Gherman in The Queen of Spades.  In a short time, he received
invitations from the Bolshoi and Mariinski Theaters to sing Alfredo (La
Traviata) and made an impressive debut at the Finnish National Opera as
Percy (Anna Bolena).  He also sang Cassio in Otello with the Bolshoi Opera
in a production conducted by Carlos Kleiber.
Since making his North American debut with the Opera Company of
Philadelphia in a gala event, he has returned to the company to sing the title
role in Werther, the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), and Tebaldo (I Capuletti ed i
Montecchi).
Further North American engagements include Rodolfo (La Boheme), and the
Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto) at New York City Opera, Rodolfo (La Boheme)
and Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) at Opera Pacific, and Pinkerton (Madama
Butterfly) at Opera de Puerto Rico.
Misha Didyk’s European engagements include Rodolfo (La Boheme) at
l’Opera de Marseille, Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) in Copenhagen,

Vocal Category: Tenor
Representation: Europe (various)/Aus
Pique Dame, San Francisco Opera
"Ukrainian tenor Misha Didyk made a
memorable San Francisco Opera debut as
Gherman, brooding and handsome. This
voice has dark hues at the bottom, a rich,
juicy middle and thrilling top notes that rip
through the orchestra, all combined with
expert breathing technique, crisp diction and
a flair for dramatic phrasing."
