Widely-acknowledged as one of the finest tenors of his generation, Luis Lima

was born in Cordoba, Argentina and trained at the Colon Theatre

Conservatory and in Europe with tenor Miguel Barrosa and soprano Gina

Cigna. 

Luis Lima’s numerous European engagements have included La Bohème,

Carmen, Les Contes d’Hoffmann and Il Tabarro at Covent Garden; La

Bohème, Cavalleria Rusticana, Carmen, Don Carlo, Fedora, Lucia di

Lammermoor, Le Prophete, Stiffelio, Tosca and Werther at the Wiener

Staatsoper; Carmen in Florence, Las Palmas and Nice; Carmen and

Cavalleria Rusticana in Hamburg; Carmen and Luisa Miller in Zurich; and

Carmen and Les Contes d’Hoffman in Oviedo.

Luis Lima’s North American engagements include La Bohème, Carmen and

Don Carlo with the Metropolitan Opera, New York (with whom he has also

toured Japan); La Bohème and Madama Butterfly with San Francisco Opera;

and Madama Butterfly with LA Opera.

Luis Lima’s South American engagements include La Bohème, Don Carlo,

Faust, Tosca in Buenos Aires; Carmen in Sao Paolo; and Andrea Chenier in

Mexico City.

Recent engagements include La Fanciulla del West with the Los Angeles

Opera and Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, and Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the

Wiener Staatsoper and Stiffelio with the Washington Opera Orchestra.

Mr Lima’s recordings include Cosi Fan Tutte, Carmen, Don Carlos, Le Roi de

Lahore, and Gemma di Vergy.
