Christian Tschelebiew
trained at Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik Stuttgart and pursued further studies with Rudolf Piernay.
From 1997-2001, he was a resident artist at the Staatstheater Mainz singing Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro) and Athlet/Animaltraner (Lulu), before moving to the Theater Giessen in 2001. In 2002 and 2003, he was a resident artist at the Theater Erfurt, where his roles included Koenig Treff (The Love of Three Oranges), Mephisto (La Damnation de Faust) and van Bett (Zar und Zimmermann). In season 2005/6, he was resident artist at the Komische Oper Berlin, where he sang Don Alfonso, Frank (Die Fledermaus), Kaspar (Die Freischutz) and the King (Love of Three Oranges). In 2007, he returned to the Komische Oper to sing Don Alfonso.
Christian Tschelebiew was a member of the ensemble at the Theater Augsburg from 2006-2010. His roles at the theatre have included: Adriano (I Hate Mozart). Bartolo (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Dulcamara, Don Alfonso, Don Pizarro (Fidelio), Filippo (Don Carlos), Jupiter (Orphee aux enfers), Momus (Platee), the Prince de Bouillon (Adrianna Lecouvreur), Sam (un ballo in maschera), Sprecher, Teufel (Svanda Dudak).
Christian Tschelebiew’s guest appearances in Germany include Sprecher in Stuttgart in 2006 and 2009, Bartolo (Le Nozze di Figaro) and Police Officer
(Lady MacBeth of Mtsensk) in Weisbaden, Dulcamara in Hagen and Zaccharia and the Waldbuhne Berlin.
Outside Germany, he has appeared at the Carlo Felice in Genova as the King (The Love of Three Oranges), at the Grand Teatro Bellini in Catania in the C minor Mass and in St Gallen as the Pope (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk).
Christian Tschelebiew has appeared at the Bayreuth Festival every year since 2010.
Christian Tschelebiew has worked with a number of internationally renowned directors, including: Paul Curran, Harry Kupfer, Peter Konwitschny, Willy Decker und Andreas Homoki and the conductors Mikhail Jurowski, Kiril Petrenko, Jonathan Nott und Wilhelm Keite
