Less than a year after her graduation, the young Italian mezzosoprano

Alessandra Volpe has made a strong impact on Italian Opera.  She made her

La Scala debut in Die Lustige Witwe, was engaged by the Parca della Musica

to sing Clothilde (Norma) and appeared with As.Li.Co as Isabella (Italiana in

Algeria) in theatres on the northern lyric circuit of Italy.  Her future

engagements include Maddalena (Rigoletto) in Cremona and Mendelsohn’s A

Alessandra graduated summa cum laude from the Conservatoirio N Piccinni

in Bari in piano and vocal studies in 2008.  She won the City of Altamura

competition (Chamber Music Division) two years running, the, Remigio

Alessandra Volpe enjoyed a busy professional career whilst still a student.  In

season 2004/5, she took part in the Lyric Foundation Sinfonica Petruzzelli

(Teatri di Bari) productions of Weill Mahagony and Puccini Suor Angelica,

whilst in season 2005/6, she sang the role of Jenny in the Foundation’s

production of Britten A Beggar’s Opera. Both productions were directed by

Tasse Chinoise e Libellule in the Abbado production of Ravel L’Enfant et les

Sortileges.  She also sang the role of Merlin (L’ Impresario in angustie) in the

Upon her graduation, Alessandra Volpe was immediately engaged by the

Associazione Lirica Concertistica Italiana (As.Li.Co) to sing Tisbe in Rossini

Cenerentola in Como, Cremona and Pavia.  She sang Debussy Damoiselle

Elue for the Foundation Petruzzelli di Bari under the direction of M° Fabio

Mastrangelo and covered Sonia Ganssi as Adalgisa for the Academia di

Santa Caecilia, before performing the role of Clotilde in Bellini Norma at the

Parca della Musica in Rome.

In 2009, Alessandra Volpe returned to Aslico to sing the leading role of

Isabella in Rossini L’Italiana in Algeri in Como, Cremona and Pavia.

In recital, she has sung with the Collegium Musicum, the Rome Sinfonietta,

Valeria Martina and the Fiorilegium in works including the Vivaldi Gloria, the

Pergolesi Stabat Mater, the Rossini Petite Messe Solemnelle, the Mozart

Requiem, and the Cafaro Stabat Mater.

Her international concert engagements include recitals in Shanghai and

Jakarta.

Her contemporary repertoire includes Berio folksongs and Nino Rota Capello

di Paglia di Firenze.
