Giorgio Zancanaro
is widely regarded as one of the greatest Verdi baritones of modern times. He has been a Principal Guest Artist at the Opernhaus Zurich since 1977.

In Italy, has sung at the Teatro alla Scala, Milan, the Arena di Verona, the Teatro La Fenice Venezia, the Teatro Regio di Parma, the Teatro Regio di Torino, the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the Teatro Comunale di Firenze and the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli.

Further European engagements include: the Opera de Paris, the Wiener Staatsoper, the Oper Frankfurt, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Teatro Sao Carlo Lisboa, the Theatre du Capitole Toulouse and the Opera National de Bordeaux.

Giorgio Zancanaro joined the Metropolitan Opera, New York, roster in 1982.

Giorgio Zancanaro's repertoire included Albert, Conte di Luna, Enrico Ashton, Escamillo, Ezio, Ford, Gerard, Macbeth, Miller, Pere Germont, Posa, Renato, Riccardo Forth and Sharpless.


Giorgio Zancanaro has recorded extensively for RCA, Deutsche Gramafon, CBS and Philipps.
